with the holidays coming up there's going to be a lot of cookies and treats and sweets and

sweets and food and family and i personally grew up with disordered eating because there was comments made about my body all the time,

comments made about how much I'm eating. I was not allowed to eat certain things. And there was also

the scarcity for those listening. I do, you know, I am a refugee of war. So like early in my early

childhood, I didn't have much.

But even like middle school and high school and stuff, oh, God, I was just thinking,

Mary, I have to tell you, I went to Europe a couple years ago.

And I had lost a bunch of weight from the last time my family saw me.

And it's Eastern European family. So they're very like vulgar and blunt and straight. They tell you straight how they feel.

And my uncle says to me, oh yeah, you've lost a lot of weight. But you've always been kind of fat.

Like you've always been a fat. Even as a kid, you were fat.

And I was like, what the fuck?

Like, who says that to a kid?

But I don't want to make this about me.

I think I want to talk about body image and talking about body image, talking about food,

family members talking about your body, your children's bodies,

or demanding certain things from them, like hugs and kisses, specifically because of the

holidays coming up. And this is a big, big thing that always comes up. And I know I have had

mom say to me, like, I don't know what to do. I don't know. It makes me uncomfortable. I'm not

confrontational. So I'm excited to talk about this topic because I've lived through it. I don't know
