We're glad you joined us today. Today we're going to answer a listener question that is extremely close to my heart for two reasons.

Number one, I'm a licensed train therapist in family systems theory, and also we have done in-home family counseling before.

So, let me just read this a question. I just found your podcast today as it showed up with one of my suggested podcasts. Thank you for clicking.

I listened to a couple of them, and one of them was with your son. In it, you had mentioned you had in-home family therapy slash counseling.

It also sounds like your family lives somewhere in Washington. Yes, we do. I'm very interested what the counseling look like for your family.

I was also hoping you might have a recommendation. Our kids range in age from 4 to 13, so I understand we have some very perspectives, but I would love to develop some language, healthy habits, and conversational tips for our relationships.

Now that we can all have better relationships for our future, first of all, thank you. You're a concerned mother, you want to do good, you want to do right, and you're open to counseling, which is awesome. That's the first step, right?

So, let's just talk about in-home family therapy, and we'll talk about it in two kind of tiers. I'll explain some stuff, family systems, and then we'll talk about our experience.

I've been a therapist for about 13 years, and a lot of my practice, I don't know, probably for about 8 to 10 years, involved in-home family therapy visits.

So, I would go into people's houses within the community, talk to the kids, the moms, the aunties, the uncles, the dads, and everybody.

And what we're looking at, because oftentimes people come to a counselor, a private practice, a therapist, or an agency, saying, oh my gosh, my kid is losing his mind, what do we do?

What's going on, right? And there's this saying, so this is called the, I'll give an analogy here, it's called the sick forest, like an unwell forest, right?

So, you look at a bunch of trees, like, oh man, the leaves are falling off, what's going on, and you can take that one tree, take it out of the forest, put it in a healthy environment, and then what does it start to do?
