Some of the reason our faith is not grown is because our work has not been implemented.

Dr. Tony Evans says God's plan is for us to perfect our faith in Him because

Faith without works, atrophies and dies.

The question is as old as the Bible itself.

If we're saved by faith alone, what difference does it make what we do?

Let's join Dr. Evans right now in James chapter 2 as he addresses that issue.

People who hadn't seen me for a long time would typically comment about my weight loss.

And they would say, well, how did you lose these 40 or 50 pounds?

Did you have surgery? What did you do?

And I would explain for a long time, I toggled, I vacillated between diet and exercise.

Sometimes the diet would be good, but the exercise is bad. Sometimes the exercise would be good.

And the diet, bad.

But when I put the two together on a consistent basis, I had weight transformation.

And weight loss. It was the packaging of the two together that brought the change I desired.

As long as I fluctuated between the two, I fluctuated with the weight.

But when I combined and connected the two, I was able to achieve the change that I wanted to take place.

James is concerned about people who don't know how to toggle, how to vacillate, or because they're vacillating,

who don't know how to put together the principle of faith and works in order to have life change and in order to have heaven visit history.

He begins, verse 14, with the most important word that will help us to understand what he's about to explain to us.

He says, my brother, my brother, and fellow Christian. He says, what use is it my brother?

So whatever he's getting ready to teach us is specifically designed for Christians, not non-Christians.
