Threads is the new challenger to the Elon Musk-owned social media app loved by journalists and conspiracy theorists alike.

But Threads has an equally controversial owner, Meta, parent company of Facebook and Instagram.

The new social media platform is available in 100 countries.

And according to Mark Zuckerberg, 10 million users signed up in the first few hours.

But if you do join and then decide it's not for you, it's not so easy to delete your account.

As I heard from our technology editor Zoe Kleinman.

There's an interesting little bit of small print that I think lots of people probably initially missed, including me,

which says that you can pause your account at any time.

But if you want to delete it, you also have to delete your Instagram accounts.
