Hey, welcome to the lowdown for this week. We talk everything, aviation defense. You know,

sometimes you have a bad day. Sometimes you have a bad week. I think the Korean F-16s definitely

take the cake for this week as they probably had the worst week ever when they inadvertently dropped

eight Mark 82 500-pound bombs in a town in South Korea.

Now, this did make it in the lowdown, but we're going to talk about this a little bit,

as well as everything else that's going on around the world.

So first and foremost, it's being reported that 15 people were injured out of that

bomb dropping that occurred as part of a live exercise in South Korea, just south of the DMZ

yesterday.

It was a miracle that it's only injuries as you just witness some of the impacts there. Mark 802s, that's the bomb body. It's a 500-pound

bomb body. Mark 84 is a 2,000 pound bomb body. And we modify those with tailkits and nose cones to

change it into a laser guided or a GPS guided weapon.

A GbU12, for instance, will have a laser guided seeker on the nose and a tail kit.

The Gbue 38 can have a variety of different nose plugs from a steel nose plug, airburst,

et cetera, and then the tail kit is going to provide the GPS guidance from that.

Gbu-54 combines laser and GPS, so on and so forth.

And then you can modify the Mark 84 bomb body, the 2,000 pound class with tailkits and nose cones,

similarly there to change what that weapon is capable of.

Now, it sounds like 8 Mark 802s were dropped from two Korean F-16s inadvertently.

Unknown what that type of attack they're doing, but they're dumb bombs.

They could have slung them.

They could have had a wrong coordinate and were just slewing these weapons off their system,
