And in this episode number 353, I get to welcome to the show Trilia Neuvel.

Where do you tend to navigate towards those who look like just you? Or where do you tend to

make assumptions of people who are not like you or in the same socioeconomic class as you or

speak like you or have the same abilities? If we really evaluate, we will see it.

And so that I think is more of the problem is that we don't do enough of that.

Trilia is an author and a speaker and currently an acquisitions editor for Moody Publishers.

Today, she and I are talking about the concept of extending welcome, not showing partiality or

favoritism. And that comes from a book she just is releasing for kids called The Big Wide Welcome.

A true story about Jesus, James and a church that learned to love all sorts of people.

And if you've never read the book of James, it's short. But James packs a punch.

He is not a subtle guy. His chapter 2 in James starts out with my brothers and sisters,

do you with your acts of favoritism really believe in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ?

He's basically saying you're treating people differently based on if they have gold rings

and find clothes, then if they're poor. And he's saying you're supposed to love your neighbor,

but I'm seeing that you're sinning in your partiality. So we're going to talk about that today.

How do we as a Don't Mom Alone community be the inviteers? I have some ideas I want to share

at the end of the show. And how do we help our kids be those who include others who don't keep the

circle closed? Sort of speak. We're going to talk about Trillia's experience with the

sin of partiality and why she wrote this book. So all good stuff. So let's get right to it.
