intelligent machines could one day supplant humans as the dominant species in this planet.

While the reality of that may or may not be overblown, it's certainly going to remain a popular idea in science fiction for years to come.

Which brings us to SCP-7579, an article that plays around with a classic SCP, SCP 079,

showing how it might get a little out of hand.
