like just to begin us, you know, like start us off with your journey and what led to the creation of pilot.

my background is that I'm a scientist.

I got my PhD from Johns Hopkins

and then proceeded to do a postdoc at UCSF

where I was studying the human microbiome in its early days.

This was the early 2010s and I'd been aware throughout grad school of this technology called

Phage technology and I'll explain more what that is but I was basically looking for a really good way to deploy this technology right like tackle a disease or a state or condition with this technology. And that's when I learned about acne, where of course I knew about acne, but more about kind of the industry and the state of research, where I realize that although acne is a huge burden,

it's the number one skin disease in the world. About 85% of us get it at some point in our lives,

so it's a nearly universal condition but the technologies that we use to fight it are from
