It's three minutes after 10. I forgot then. I nearly said 11. That would have been a great start to the show, wouldn't it?

I've got to have people rush. Oh my God, I'm supposed to be at work. What's happened? Three minutes after 10. It's definitely 10. I start at 10 o'clock every day. I have done for a significant portion of my life. But there you go. Just looking at something that is also evidence, perhaps, of how crazy things are at the moment.

We need a new vocabulary, don't we? Because, listen, we've got to stay upbeat. It's easy for me to say that. I am not going to be at the really sharp end of most of the problems that the country is in the process of inflicting upon itself. And I do think it's important

to acknowledge that every now and then. There's a story, I don't know if you've seen it in the

newspapers today, about teachers having to give toothbrushes and toothpaste to children. I cannot

begin to imagine the level of poverty you have to be enduring if you don't have any money left at the end of the day or the

week or the month i mean literally nothing you know and you can't pick up the phone and and

call your mum i just that notion of i only need a quid but you actually don't have a quid i can't

begin to imagine what that is like but i am uh of the view that it's important at least to try to imagine what that might be like. One thing you could do, of course, instead of having children's charities and organizations set up to address things like poverty, you could just tell all these kids they should never have been born. That'd be good. You say, listen, I know you're suffering, I know you're hungry, I know you haven't got a toothbrush, but your parents never should have had you. That'll help. That'll keep them warm at night. That'll put food in their belly and fluoride on their choppers. You should never have been born you. Your parents never should have had you. get rid of the NSPCC while we're at it, couldn't we?

Save the children, forget it. Tell children they should never have been born. They should rebrand immediately. We'll be cooking with gas by tea time. I digress slightly. Five minutes after ten is the time. The story that just caught my eye actually is not the one we're going to talk about. I don't know if you saw the front of the observer yesterday. You remember those 40 hospitals?

The 40 hospitals, he literally was claiming right up until the political equivalent of the men in

white coats carted him out of Downing Street,

mulling and whining as he went, claiming that there were 40,

oh, they got all the big calls right at the vaccine rollouts and the 40 hostiles.

Atta, utter bilge.

Bilge, boulder dash and bloviation, whichever way you look at it.

They had a little look at the likelihood of these 40 new hospitals being built. Only 10 of them have got planning permission. So this isn't a story about hospitals

that aren't finished yet, or hospitals that aren't technically new, or hospitals, well,

you fill in the gaps yourself. This is a story about hospitals that haven't even got planning permission.
