But, um, expired hotel room rental periods, and that's a question I always get in class for a lot of people and I want to just address it and the case I'll give it to you of US versus Ram. It's 1987 so the case law came out 30 years ago and guys are still like what can we do and here what it here's what it says basically in a nutshell

A hotel guest rental period has expired. I'm sorry after a hotel guest rental period has expired or been lawfully terminated. The guest does not have a legitimate

expectation of privacy in the hotel room or at any articles found therein of which the hotel lawfully takes possession.

Moreover, the fact that the defendant's arrest prevented his return to the hotel room

made no difference for it was presumably his own fault and conduct that prevented his return to the hotel.
