And what he learns here is that the God who has revealed himself to Israel, who is saving Israel,

is a God who has established his justice so that he can display the wonders of his mercy.

And I think that this becomes the centerpiece of Moses's whole theology of who the Lord is

and how he works in the world. And then I think everybody that follows Moses

understands this from Moses about God. And so thus I would say that the glory of God

and salvation through judgment is the center of biblical theology.

Sam Amati. So guys, last week we covered Exodus 32 and 33. We talked about what I tried to call

the fall of Israel, how they're cast out of God's presence, and they're only still alive because

Moses, their mediator, pleads their case before the Lord. And so we ended Exodus 33 in a bit of a precarious

place. The Lord has met with Moses face to face. He showed him his goodness. But the people,

well, Moses tells us that they are in mourning. They've stripped themselves of their ornaments,

and they are slouching toward the promised land. Meanwhile, God has told Moses that he's not going to go with the people anyway.

And the tablets of God's law are broken.
