Summary

We need to talk... That negative self-talk you have lurking in the corners of your mind DOES NOT SERVE YOU! So let me put aside the notes and let's get real in this episode with ways to (literally) snap out of the negative and shift your mindset into the positive:

  • Positive pattern disruption techniques - what are they and how to use them
  • Ways to practice self-love
  • Awareness techniques to recognize when you are allowing negative self-talk to creep in
  • And so much more!

Make sure to let me know what you are taking action on and allow me to be a part of your journey. Connect with me on Instagram @emilyhayden and comment on my most recent post about how this episode helped you be more aware of your own negative self-talk and if these techniques are helping you "snap" out of it!

Hi, everyone and welcome to another podcast. I am so excited to be here with you guys today because we are going to talk about negative self-talk. Yay! So I have to tell you, I did not create any notes for this podcast. I wanted to

0:24.6

just kind of shoot from the hip and treat it as if you're one of my best friends who called me and is

0:29.5

like, hey, Emily, I'm dealing with negative self-talk and I just really need some help. Like,

0:33.6

how do I get out of this? How do we deal with this? And so it's just you and me on the phone.

0:37.9

If you're in the car, what's up? If you're doing cardio, push a little bit harder. Just pretend that

0:41.8

we're having a phone conversation because that's what this is in my opinion. So if you're

0:46.7

dealing with negative self-talk, I first off just want to tell you that you're not alone.

0:50.8

All the people that you see that you perceive as very successful, they have negative self-talk

0:56.1

too. But I do think that as you go along in your journey, as you learn to recognize, number one,

1:01.9

that you're having self-talk, that you do get better at acknowledging it, handling it, and kind of what

1:07.8

to do moving forward. How do you get out of it? So for step one,

1:11.6

for those of you guys that maybe haven't really dealt with your negative self-talk, maybe you're

1:15.3

just living with it right now, I want to tell you that number one, you are not your thoughts.

1:21.4

So the thoughts that come in your mind, those really negative things, those terrible mean

1:25.4

things that you would never say to a friend that come

1:27.9

in your mind, that is not necessarily you. So when you hear those, I want you to acknowledge and just

1:33.1

kind of snap your fingers. I like to always snap. Like if you guys listen to my podcast and my YouTube

1:37.3

videos, I'll say like snap. It's because it brings you awareness to that moment. It's really easy to

1:42.5

feel like you're kind of lost in this cloud

1:44.9

that is your thoughts, and that's not really you. So by snapping, you can kind of bring yourself

1:50.0

into reality and say, no, I have control over what I focus on. I have control over what I think,

1:57.2

and I can control the way that I move forward and how I be positive in my life.
