| 0:00.0 | A very warm welcome to the early retirement show, the show dedicated to helping you navigate |
| 0:05.3 | the nuances of an early retirement, a non-traditional retirement. Now, let's get right into the episode |
| 0:11.7 | so we can learn how to retire early. Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another episode |
| 0:18.3 | of the early retirement podcast. Today's episode is a fun one. |
| 0:21.9 | Now, I know I say that every time, but that is because retirement planning is fun. I received a funny |
| 0:26.7 | question from a listener who said, are you said every episode is fun and every episode is your best |
| 0:31.3 | episode yet? And the reality is, of course, that can't be the case, but I try to make them all great. |
| 0:36.5 | So thank you to all of those who have been either reviewing the show, those who have been rating the show. It helps more people find it, helps more people understand how they can retire early. So I appreciate you doing that. If you haven't seen already, I'm doing all of this content and more on YouTube as well in case you prefer to follow along. Once again, some listeners say, hey, Ari, I actually prefer to do this while I'm working out, or I prefer to do this on the way to work. So if a podcast is better for you, great. I'm going to continue to do these episodes. So no need to worry if I'm going to be stopping the podcast and just going to YouTube. That is not the case. So let's hop into today's episode, which is all about what you need to know if you want to retire before age 65. Now, there is a lot to think about. Today, I'm going to once again highlight what is most important. There is so much to this that it quickly becomes overwhelming. And I don't want you to go, oh, my gosh, there's so much to this that now I'm just not going to consider it. Or maybe I'll read a few articles, but it's just overwhelming and then no action occurs. To me, it's actually better to just focus on what's really actually valuable and, hey, what do we need to know to avoid? So that's why I also do episodes on, hey, here's what you shouldn't think about. Here's what you shouldn't spend any time or energy on because that's not really going to be a big factor in retirement. |
| 1:49.3 | So what I'm going to be talking about today is what I call the complete guide because my goal is that this is the complete guide. |
| 1:55.9 | That by the end of this episode, you have a sense of if you want to retire before age 65, call it an early retirement, which doesn't have an exact age to it. Some people say it's in their 50s, others it's, hey, it's 62 or 63, but it's almost in that before 65 age. Well, let's look at what you need to do to do that. So how I'm going to do that is I'm going to go through an example. As you all know I love examples by now. If you have not submitted a question and there's something that you go, |
| 2:21.4 | Hey, are you, do that. So how I'm going to do that is I'm going to go through an example. As you all know, I love examples by now. If you have not submitted a question and there's something that you go, hey, Ari, I want you to talk about this in an episode. Go to my website or click in the description of this podcast episode and you can leave a question and I will reply directly to you if I think, yes, this is a great question, but not for this podcast, or maybe I'll make a video out of it, |
| 2:34.4 | or I will somehow find a way to make sure you get your answer. So just want you to know that. |
| 2:38.9 | Now, as I'm going through this today, a kind reminder that I am a financial planner, I'm also |
| 2:43.5 | the vice president at Root Financial Partners, and we help people really accomplish what's most |
| 2:47.9 | important to them. We use your money to do it. Now, let's hop right into |
| 2:51.5 | the episode, which is going to be about how do we make sure we know everything before age 65. |
| 2:56.2 | Sounds like a broken record by now, I know, but I'll hop in right now, which is, number one, |
| 3:00.9 | what expenses are in place today that won't be here in the future? What I mean by that is that if |
| 3:07.3 | there is a question of, okay, what are we spending on today that won't be here in the future. What I mean by that is that if there is a question of, okay, what are we spending on today that won't be here in the future like a mortgage, for example, or if you say, oh my gosh, Ari, my income, when I'm looking at income, do I need to just replace my income? Well, not exactly because if you're contributing to a 401k or if you're contributing to a 403B or an IRA or anything else like that today, you're going, well, Ari, I don't really need to completely replace my paycheck because money's already being taken out of that. And then how do taxes play a role into all this? So I'm going to give you an example today so that you can actually think through this. And then from there, I'm going to talk on a few action points |
| 3:41.4 | that I hope is going to summarize all of this and make it really simple. That is my goal. |
| 3:45.5 | If by the end of this, you go, hey, don't feel totally confident with this or I don't have |
| 3:49.2 | complete, what I'll call, it doesn't resonate with you in a way that's, yes, I'm fully clear |
