Do you ever worry if it's too late?

Do you ever think, oh, I just missed the boat on that?

Or I should have taken more risks while I was younger or the thing that I

want to do it's so saturated now is there any point look I hear this a lot when people want to start

a podcast maybe or maybe they want to start a coaching business or maybe they want to have a career

pivot altogether in some other way and they think it's just,

it's too late, right? It's too late. And I tell you, this breaks my heart because I know,

I know it's not true. As Oprah says, if there is breath in your body, there is more. There is more for you. And any

ideas we have around timing being too late, being too soon, whatever it is, it's made up.

It's made up. It's in our mind. What day did it become too late? Say you think, I'm too old to start my side hustle as a

coach, for example. When was that? Was it March last year? Was it April 11th seven years ago? When? When was that

marker? It's arbitrary. It's made up. It's a story. And I have a gorgeous Taoist story. I know I've been reading a

couple of these lately on the pod. A gorgeous Taoist story that I want to read to you today to illustrate

this. It's the story of the monk and the cherry blossom. Here goes. This gets me excited. I know it's not

cherry blossom season, but we leave for Japan next week. Okay, here goes. A young monk was walking

with his teacher in the gardens when he spotted a single cherry blossom blooming in the early

spring. Enchanted by its beauty, he asked his teacher, Master, why does his cherry blossom

bloom alone so early in the season? The teacher replied, some blossoms wait for the warmest days of spring,

while others open to the first light of the season.

Each flower blooms in its own time. But master the monk pressed, it seems foolish for the flower

to bloom so early. A frost might come and kill it. The teacher smiled and said, whether it blooms early or late,
