Summary

To celebrate Eve’s 100th Radio Headspace episode, this week, she’s sharing 5 she really enjoyed writing, and tells us how they came together. Today is all about being present. Life very seldomly gives us the opportunity to go back to pivotal moments when we did not pay enough attention. Mindfulness challenges us to be present for our peers and those around us. Paying enough attention is a small price to pay for the reward of being present.   Eve Lewis Prieto is Director of Teaching at Headspace, a certified Mindfulness & Meditation teacher and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor. At Headspace, Eve helps to introduce new meditation teachers to the platform and creates and oversees a wide array of meditation and mindfulness experiences that meet the diverse needs of our members. She is passionate about teaching the benefits of these time-honoured practices, with the aim of helping people take care of their mental health.  Send any general questions to askeve@headspace.com, or you can connect and meditate with Eve via Instagram @meditatewitheve where she leads a weekly live meditation.  Try the Headspace app free for 30 days here! Hi there, it's Eve here. As you know, this week I'm sharing five episodes of Radio

0:10.5

Headspace that I really enjoyed writing. I'll talk a little bit about them, then

0:15.9

actually play the episode. And today's episode is called Pay Attention at All Costs.

0:22.7

Because let's face it, we live in a really distracting world. I think the problem

0:28.6

isn't that we don't know what to say, it's that we have an issue hearing what

0:34.0

others have to say. Or you're so focused on what you want to say that you've missed

0:39.3

the point of the conversation. And I do think the pandemic exacerbated it, but

0:45.0

even pre-pandemic, we were so distracted all of the time. Often times we're

0:50.8

slacking, emailing and texting in a meeting. And it's no wonder that sometimes

0:55.9

we don't know what's going on. I think a good exercise is to ask yourself, am I

1:02.8

really listening? Because we can pretend to listen, we can look like we're

1:08.0

listening. But are we really absorbing the information? So as you listen to this

1:14.0

episode today, notice how you're listening. And hopefully it might influence how

1:20.4

you approach the rest of this week.

1:34.3

Hi and welcome to Radio Headspace and to Tuesday. The other day I was in yet

1:42.2

another virtual meeting. And it seemed like everyone was having to repeat

1:47.4

themselves. And my first thought was I guess the internet is playing up again,

1:52.1

as you know, that happens. But the connection was working fine. What was actually

1:58.0

happening was no one was really paying attention. No one was really listening.

2:02.6

And it was causing a fair amount of tension as nobody felt hurt. And you know

2:09.0

paying attention is not as easy as most of us think it is because life is

2:14.6

pretty distracting. Even in scheduled meetings where we are supposed to be
