Welcome, Ms. Basham. Well, thanks for having me. It's great to be here.

First, a broad question. You open the introduction and chapter one with cases of ordinary evangelical

Americans being presented by their churches with programs and positions and statements that run

squarely against explicit. This is not complicated Christian doctrine, explicit biblical assertion.

Well, I open very much with all of these on the ground stories because I think it was important

to set up that we're not just sort of debating ideas here. These ideas are impacting real Christians

in the pews, ordinary churchgoers who are there every week, and trying to very faithfully

be involved in their churches and practice church life. So that's why I did that. And what this

book is about is a number of ways that leftist influence has come into various

ministries and how it has captured the minds. And in some cases, a lot of activity of church

leaders. So, you know, the title, Shepherds for Sale, sale can mean a lot of things. It can mean literal. And in some

cases, I do cover the literal left-wing foundations who are bringing in funding to try to set up

evangelical front groups. But it can also be more metaphorical in the sense that this influence is more

think of it as enticement via positive media notice or rewards of

think tanks or just cultural adulation. So there's a lot of ways that someone can be for sale.

And I think that the real string of the book is you've really got a lot of specific stories,

facts. You really go into the history, often on the inside,

to lay out the enticement, and you name names. You go into specific churches. And I think,
