1:17.3	shirking for many years. We are going to break down the Eurovision song competition.
1:25.9	That brings me so much joy. I feel like this is one of the most requested things that has
1:29.8	come in from listeners. It's a talk Eurovision, and yet as Americans, we are somewhat
1:34.4	woefully ignorant, so I'm excited for you to enlighten me. Eurovision is the yearly competition
1:41.5	in which countries from all over the world, not just Europe, all submit a song. They are performed
1:49.2	at a neutral location, and a panel of judges and an international audience decide a single winner
1:58.0	every year. This is a mix of saccharine love ballads, outrageous Europop, and campy dance moves.
2:06.9	It's been going on since 1956, and has given artists from ABBA to Selene, Dianne, their big break,
2:16.2	as you say, we are really overdue to talk about this global phenomenon. Yeah, but why now?
2:23.7	Because like so many events, Eurovision 2020 meant to be held in Rotterdam has been cancelled.
