Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham right here on the the home of common sense, it is, of course, talk radio.

And it is, ladies and gentlemen, the morning after the night before.

That old familiar feeling of not quite making it, not quite hitting the high notes,

of missed opportunities and missed penalties.

For millions of England fans last night, it was a devastating end to a fantastic campaign of fun, football and fitness.

And unfortunately, for a few thousand idiots, it was an excuse to unleash an avalanche of violence, of drug-taking and alcohol-fuelled madness.

Some of the scenes witnessed in London yesterday were totally shameful.

Lester Square turned into a war zone, bottles were thrown, fights broke out,

drugs were being consumed openly, there were people running around naked, you know,

sticking flares in places where flares should not be stuck. At Wembley, it was a security shambles,

a nightmare, hundreds, if not thousands of thugs fought their way into the country's national

stadium and couldn't be stopped.

Families with children looked on in horror as grown men set upon Italian fans inside and outside the ground. What on earth is wrong with these people? As if that wasn't bad enough,

the three young black players who missed their penalties last night, Rashford, Sancho and Saka

awoke this morning to a torrent of racial abuse.

It's all so terribly familiar, isn't it?

And Boris Johnson thinks England should get the World Cup?

Well, I don't, and I suspect FIFA won't either.

We'll kick off this morning with Sol Campbell with his take on the game and all the nonsense around him.

Because Sol has played football for England.
