The Roma saw the Jews as a nation.

So whether they lived in Rome or Babylon or Alexandria or Asia Minor or Greece or Palestine, the high priest as the leading person among the Jewish people had authority over all Jews everywhere. And in the synagogues, we see this at Acts. They would sometimes beat Jews and punish Jews, but when they thought we see them doing this

to Paul and to Sosthenes, they beat them in front of the Romans, right? So they were allowed to

exercise jurisdiction in religious matters over their own people. So when they come to

Pilate, Pilot realizes that they don't have a charge. Pilate just can't put

people to death. He has to follow Roman law. There has to be a violation of Roman law for him to

even hold a trial. So, you know, when we get stopped for a speeding ticket or something by a policeman gives us a ticket,

the ticket alleges what statute be violated.

That was the same thing in Roman law.

Pilot wasn't just there to rubber stamp their decisions, just bring somebody.

Now, I'm glad you brought a pilot because a lot of Bible scholars have actually said that the presentation of pilot in the New Testament is not genuine, it's not correct.
