Moscow is using ballistics instead of the negotiating table,

says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky,

following a ferocious wave of attacks on the capital Kiev last night, around 600 drones and more than 30 missiles were fired at the city through the early hours of the morning, according to the Ukrainian military. At least 21 people have been killed, dozens more injured and around 10 people are still missing. Moscow blamed Ukraine's air defences and

electronic warfare systems for the damage, claiming Russia only targeted military sites. But the

European Commission's building was damaged. So was the British Council, which is a cultural centre,

a Turkish business and several residential buildings.

Apartment blocks were destroyed, particularly in the Darnitsky District of Kiev's left bank.

It's less than two weeks since President Putin travelled to the US state of Alaska

to meet face-to-face with President Trump to discuss a ceasefire plan in Ukraine. Today, his envoy said these

attacks threaten Mr. Trump's efforts. Well, they've been condemned across Europe. The European

Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called the attacks outrageous. It shows that the Kremlin

will stop at nothing to terrorize Ukraine,

blindly killing civilians, men, women and children,

and even targeting the European Union.

This is why we are keeping maximum pressure on Russia.
