In John, the third chapter, we began into this last week into a new series that we are calling eternal life.

Eternal life.

It's quite a big subject.

I'm excited about it.

It's perhaps a big subject. I'm excited about it. It's perhaps the central theme of redemption.

It's why Jesus came and it's what he accomplished.

In John the third chapter, as we read last week,

Nicodemus came to Jesus, and Jesus revealed to him that you must be

born again. And he talked to him about being born of the spirit and the work of the spirit.

And down in verse 14, John 314, it says, and as Moses lifted up the serpent in the

wilderness, even so must the son of man be lifted up. He was lifted up on the cross. That, in other

words, the reason that he did that, that happened,

that whosoever believes in him should not perish,

but have eternal life.

Now, perish has to do with death and destruction.

Destruction and death.

And whoever believes in him should not be destroyed and should not die, but have eternal life.

Verse 16, for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever

believes in him.

See, he just got through saying this, but it is so important,

that whoever believes in him should not perish.

Who are the ones that are not going to perish?
