What would you like to talk about today?

That BBC story is worthy of further examination, indubitably.

There's also a cracking tale, a troubling tale about the early years' funding shortfall

and the impact that this concomitant childcare crisis is having on poor families.

That definitely gets filed under important, and if you have tales to tell,

I am minded to give you a platform to tell them this morning.

But someone at the other end of the generational scale,

as someone who's very nearly 47 and a half,

I do find myself drawn to a tale that two out of five workers in their 50s

believe that they face a lack of opportunity to progress in their job.

That must be pretty grim.

You're barely half time and yet you feel that the whistle is already being blown.

The problem with that story, of course, is that I work with children.

Everybody I work with these days.

Except Jones, the engineer, who's making a rare return to the program.

We work with children. So I don't know whether or not I'll be able to excite the question of what it's like to be in the workplace when you're over 50.
