This week, we only have the book of Esther to cover, and it's fairly short.

Just ten chapters. It's only one of two books in the Old Testament that is named after a woman,

the other being Ruth, and so if you're into women in the scriptures, as I am,

this is an amazing book to shine the spotlight on one of our incredible sister saints.

It's also one of only two books in the Old Testament that doesn't explicitly mention God,

the other being Song of Solomon, which you may have guessed.

But it does come as a surprise to most people that, wait, Esther doesn't talk about God at all.

Well, in some ways, it's so appropriate that he wouldn't be explicitly mentioned in this book,

because it forces us to do a little bit deeper looking to find him in these pages.

And I think the context historically of this book is perfect to give us that kind of mission or that goal

because what's happening, if you remember last week with Ezra and Nehemiah,

and the Jews have returned to Jerusalem, they're coming back in waves, it's starting slow.
