My name is Toya.

I'm a recovered alcoholic and supremely grateful to be sober.

I feel a little bit hectic.

I was at my home group tonight and it was great too.

I love the format here. I love that you read the traditions. I love that you talk about tradition five, the primary purpose of this group to carry the message. That's my primary purpose in life today to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. How fortunate am I that I have a purpose in life?

I have meaning. Some people go through their whole life right to their dying day.

They're wondering what's it all about? Why am I here? Thank God that alcohol beat me to a pulp

to a point of absolute submission. And because I had asked God that question, why am I here?

If I'm here just to earn money to buy things and pay bills, if that's it, I'm not having it.

I'm out of here.

And I had made my mind up that I was going to end my life.

And so, yeah, I am in Perth, Western Australia.

My home group is the Rockingham People's Group.

I've just come straight from there.

And my sobriety dates the 26th of March, 1994.
