I'm an alcoholic.

My name is Karen.

And Donna C. and I celebrate the same sobriety date, 10 years apart, but the same date. So she and Diana

are gifts in my life, as are all of you. You know, Alcoholics Anonymous is the most important

thing I've ever had. And actually, it's the only thing I've ever sucked to, including

a marriage. So there's something about AA that keeps me coming back, because

I keep learning. And it's everything I've ever wanted I found in the rooms of Alcoholics

Anonymous, and when I got here, I didn't even know what I was looking for. So there's magic. There's

absolute magic in these rooms. And I continue to find it. And I never get tired of listening to you and learning from you.

So for that I truly, truly thank you. So I'll stick with the format.

Now I hear some figures say, I'll tell you what it was like, what happened, and what it's like

now. Well, that isn't actually what the book says.

The book says what we were like,

what happened, and what we are like

now. Because, you know, it doesn't

change. We do.
