My name is Harriet, I'm an alcoholic.

My home group is the Carl Gables group and I'm delighted to be, I was supposed to be

one of your two speakers tonight, I'm sorry to say that Chico had a town problem and

had to leave and so here I am, I'm the speaker.

I do not intend to be here for an hour and a half, but I will share with you a little bit

of my story.

First of all I want to thank Chris and the great Vine committees for asking me to be here,

I couldn't be here last year, I was out of town and so I'm delighted to be back here

and to be here invited guest.

I didn't imagine that it was this wonderful, people had told me what a great fun it was

and how beautiful and it is all of that and I thank the committee for asking me.

My story begins in Pennsylvania and I was an only child and I really believed it being

an only child helps in getting to be an alcoholic.

I was self-centered from the very beginning, I didn't understand the word in the big book

of selfishness because I was taught to be unselfish with things and it wasn't until I came

into alcoholic synonymous to find out that I had never learned to be unselfish with

me with my inner feelings.
