Good evening everybody, happy to be here, my name is Christian, I'm alcoholic.

My date of sobriety is January 26, 2009.

I want to actually, before I get into this, I want to thank Larry for asking me to speak.

I want to thank the people that run the facility, open it up to us and welcome the newcomers

and those that took tokens.

Yeah, so I, my grandmother, I have alcoholism pretty deep in my family.

My grandmother died at 45 years old, alcoholism, drank herself to death.

My mom tells a story of her dropping off the rent money.

They lived off September street by Bay Park and she dropped off the rent money and that

was the last time my mom saw her and 45 years old, drank herself to death.

Then my dad's folks, similar deal, they both were just drunk pretty much till they're

health issues.

They both succumb to that.

That's pretty something that I have to deal with or something that our whole family's

dealt with.

So I was raised in Redding, California and lived there till I was about five years old

and then we moved down to help take care of my great grandmother off a Zion street right
