Today we are going to begin our series on one of the most well-known and most requested explorers, and that is Ernest Shackleton.

Shackleton is often cited as one of the greatest explorers of the 20th century, and that is mostly because of the extraordinary deeds and efforts that he exhibited when his ship Endurance was trapped in the ice of the Antarctic in 1915.

But I can promise you that Ernest Shackleton is a much more complex character than this now towering figure of the heroic age of Antarctic exploration.

In fact, as an explorer, he has a lot to be desired, yet his deeds are almost unparalleled in the history of exploration.

So buckle up for what promises to be a great run of episodes. Let's get started with a few notes.

Books, TV shows, movies, websites, there's just a million resources out there.
