Summary

Comedians Erica Rhodes (Veep, Modern Family, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert) and Steve Agee (Guardians of the Galaxy, Peacemaker, Abbott Elementary) join Jameela for an episode that begins with dietary advice and ends… in a urologist’s office.

Erica recounts the date that launched a viral moment, involving a wildly inappropriate comparison, some questionable role-play, and a man who may or may not be a pathological liar. She also shares the most humbling twist of fate imaginable after attempting to make someone jealous in New York.

Steve delivers a catastrophic Hollywood Boulevard micro-humiliation involving laundry day, no drawstring, and rush-hour traffic, before taking us deep into the saga of kidney stones, shockwave therapy, and a medical procedure that will have you crossing your legs in solidarity.

Along the way, Jameela reflects on early career panic, birthday disappointments, dating interrogations outside police stations, and maybe recommends morphine?

This is an episode about humiliation, survival, and the strange comfort of knowing that one day, even your worst moment might make a great story.

Hello and welcome to wrong turns with Jamina Jamil. This is the show where dignity goes to die. I have a feeling it's going to die a terrible, terrible death today. I am always joined by funny and sometimes very outrageous people. I have two guests who perfectly fit that description. Joining me today, we have a comedian and actress who has appeared on Veep, New Girl, Modern Family and the late show with Stephen Colbert. You can watch her comedy special, Livy on Rhodes on Amazon, and she's on her Call Me Crazy tour. Tickets available at Erica Rhodes.com. It's Erica Motherfucking Rhodes. Yay. Man, what a resume. Yeah, wow. I forgot I did any of that. I know. It's crazy. It just goes by in a flash, doesn't it? If it wasn't on camera, I wouldn't believe any of my life. I wasn't going to be like, I don't believe your life. I do believe your life. I'm a big fan. But I'm also thrilled to welcome a comedian, writer, musician and actor from The Guardians of the Galaxy, Abba Elementary, Peacemaker, the Sarah Silverman program, New Girl, the Suicide Squad. You can hear him now on Creature Commandos. And according to IMDB, he played man on the street in a

movie called Kicked in the Nuts. It's Steve fucking AG.

1:15.4

Kicked in the nuts, by the way. My scene was shot about two blocks from here.

1:20.6

Wow. I won't say where we are, but yeah. Was that a film? No, it was a web short.

1:28.2

About a guy who just, Mike Henry, he was on Family Guy, and he was a guy who was, like one

1:35.0

of those reality shows, like a prank show.

1:37.7

He's in a red wig and a jumpsuit, and he just runs out and kicks random people in the

1:42.2

nuts.

1:42.9

And he's like, you've been kicked in the nuts? Yeah, I'm coming out of a porn shop. And there was a porn shop and I was like, and they're shooting it from across the street. So they're like, okay, you just go in there and wait for like one minute while we get set up. So I just walk into a porn shop on Ventura and and I'm standing there, and the guy's like,

2:01.8

can I help you?

2:02.8

Like, no, I'm going to leave in about 45 more seconds.

2:07.8

And then I walk out and get kicked in the nuts.

2:10.4

When was this?

2:12.5

2003.

2:13.3

Okay, good.

2:13.9

I was like, God, the strike really hit some of us harder than others.

2:36.6

Pre anything, that was like my first credit. Did you do your own stunts? I did. I wore a cup and let them just go to town. Really? Like, how protective is the cup? I've always wanted to know. They're pretty good, yeah. Thank God, because I kicked a stuntman in the dick when I was on Marvel, and I've thought about it truly every week since as to whether or not he's having fertility tests and finding out having to break his girlfriend that I've ruined his fertility. I just missed his stomach. I think he just had like a stomach pad because that's where I was supposed to kick him with my big boot. Oh, you missed. I missed. He probably wasn't ready for that.

2:52.2

From the look on his face, I'm not sure he was wearing a cup. I will be honest. No, probably not. Either way, I'm a bad guy. Did it feel soft or hard when you? I don't remember. I don't remember. all I could think about was myself really in the moment

3:05.4

as to how mortified I was

3:07.0

because I'm a piece of shit.

3:09.8

I was talking I'm a piece of shit.

3:09.7

I was talking to Steve before you got here who was telling me about a confidence low on set when you had to play a homeless man on New Girl. Would you mind telling Erica?
