Summary

Every Monday, Grace and Alex scour the news, and record notes on what's going on to kick off the week. Today we had a fun mix of news, and things that made us laugh. The Spotify-Rogan situation continued as last week ended, with more episodes of the show coming down. More apologies. And more of Spotify trying to straddle the difference between platform and publisher, while hoping to reap the rewards of both while not fully owning up to the responsibility. Wag is going public, and my body is ready. From the funding round front, we had quick notes on Swing, which raised a $24 million Series B, and Reliance Health, which raised a $40 million Series B. And to close us out, an analogy about Facebook through the lens of Alphabet's Other Bets line item. Lots of Equity is coming this week, including our first live show of the year. It's free and you can come hang out, watch us flub, and ask questions! See you Thursday! Credits: Equity is produced by Theresa Loconsolo with editing by Kell. Bryce Durbin is our Illustrator. Over in the EU stocks are generally higher, they're nothing too crazy to report there.

0:42.0

Here in America, US.S. features are

0:44.3

little changed as we record this morning and I'll just say major cryptos largely

0:48.6

flat, not too much going on there so if you own Bitcoin well you can rest easy

0:52.4

this morning. However if you do own a minor

0:54.8

crypto you may be having a better start to the week given that some of those coins are

0:58.6

actually doing quite well in early morning trading though of course crypto markets, they don't close.

1:04.0

What else?

1:05.0

Well, here in the U.S. we are anticipating inflation data on Thursday.

1:07.8

I think we all have an opinion about what that number is going to be, but it never actually

1:11.1

hurts to get the data.

1:12.1

Of course, this will impact interest rates, which will impact

1:14.4

asset prices, which of course will impact the value of technology companies.

1:17.6

So if you want to look really far ahead, pay attention to that. On the earnings front

1:21.6

we have LIFT and Uber and Twillio and Twitter and Cloudflare
