Episode 24, Nicholas Owen, a master carpenter who built all sorts of hidden passageways and secret hideouts.

Do you like to play hide and seek?

I bet you know all the best hiding places in your house. Behind the hamper in the closet,

under the bed, in the shower with the shower curtain closed. Have you ever hid and not been

found? At first, that feels pretty exciting.

You obviously picked the best spot.

No one can find you.

But then, what happens when your friends just give up seeking?

Has that ever happened to you before?

I was never that good at hide-and-seek,

but it definitely happened to my brother.

We all gave up looking for him,

and he was left feeling forgotten and left out.

That's not a very nice feeling.

St. Nicholas Owen was excellent at playing hide-and-seek.

And sometimes, because he was a bit different to everyone around him, he felt left out.

When he was sad, he would go to one of his secret hideouts where he would think or pray.

His talent for making secret hideouts would end up becoming his life's work,

and it saved many lives in his country, England.

But at first, his hiding places were just places he went when he was feeling left out.
