St. Helena's quest to discover Jesus' cross. Does the church you go to have the

stations of the cross? I bet it does. You might have noticed them on the walls of the church

up and down the aisles. They might be paintings, carvings, or statues hanging on the walls.

They tell the story of the day Jesus carried the cross and was crucified.

Well, on Fridays in Lent, the church has a special prayer service called the Stations of the Cross.

It's a time for us to walk with Jesus as he carries the cross, to think about what Jesus did for us.

Jesus' cross was very heavy. It was made out of rough wood,

and it was so big, he needed the help of Simon of Cyrene to carry it through the streets of

Jerusalem and out of the city, up to the hill of Calvary. It was a long and hard walk, but Jesus took

every step out of love for us, for you and for me.

Jesus did this because he wants to take everything hard on himself. He wants to take all

our sadness and loneliness and transform it into Easter joy. Now, Jesus carried his cross

But did you know that today, we still have the true cross that Jesus died on?

A long time ago, a powerful queen named Helena wanted to find the very cross Jesus carried.
