You know, as I speak to you this afternoon, as I talk into a microphone, there's a tragedy unfolding, unspooling, if you will, on the other side of the continent, certainly not the world.

But on the other side of this country right now, the Philadelphia Phillies are in danger of missing the playoffs.

And they're fumbling the bag in a way.

I didn't think they could be more painful.

This is a team that hasn't made the playoffs since 2011, right?

So this year they went all in.

They paid a bunch of big fucking hammers to come in and swing bats.

And I thought they'd win a lot of games like 11 to 5, 11 to 10, that kind of thing.

Because they have no defense.

They have a couple of great pitchers, a questionable bullpen, and then the big hammers, right?

So here we are at the end of the season.

And after having lost Bryce Harper, MV3, baseball Jesus himself, they lost him for like seven weeks because he got hit by a pitch and broke his

fucking thumb. And it was infuriating. But yet, they rallied. They rallied behind a bunch of guys.

They called it from the minor leagues and stuff and they got it done. They were scrappy.

They dug deep. And when he came back, they were in the playoffs. They were a playoff team.

And then they have fallen off a
