Summary

Isaiah was the most comprehensive of all prophets: his writing spans the entirety of history, from the creation of the world to the creation of “a new heavens and new earth.” No other prophet matches his majestic eloquence on the glory of God and the redemptive work and sufferings of the Coming Messiah, all the while making us clearly aware of God’s abounding Grace. 0:50.2	And these two chapters 44 and 45 sort of hang together and include some of the most colorful,
0:57.8	most dramatic, most remarkable passages in the book of Isaiah or even in the Bible in total.

1:07.3	We'll just jump right in.
1:09.8	Chapter 44 verse 1, yet now here, O Jacob, my servant, and Israel whom I have chosen.
1:16.9	And there are the two names used antiphanyly, Jacob and Israel.
1:22.6	And be sensitive to that, because it's interesting how in the scripture when someone's name is changed, it usually sticks.
1:31.3	When Abraham becomes Abraham and Sarai becomes Sarah.
1:37.3	From that point on, they don't change. They're always referred to by their new name.
1:41.3	When Saul of Tarsus becomes Paul, adopting his Roman name in effect, it sticks.
1:48.9	You don't speak of them as Saul after that.
1:51.2	There are a couple of exceptions to that, and the exceptions appear to be used very methodically
