Summary

Isaiah was the most comprehensive of all prophets: his writing spans the entirety of history, from the creation of the world to the creation of “a new heavens and new earth.” No other prophet matches his majestic eloquence on the glory of God and the redemptive work and sufferings of the Coming Messiah, all the while making us clearly aware of God’s abounding Grace. 0:44.7	Music 31 through 35. We are in chapter 31 and just a few marks broadly to position ourselves.
0:52.4	We're moving toward Isaiah 35. The first 35 chapters of the book of Isaiah
0:59.6	have a certain style, a certain commitment to certain themes. Chapter 40 through 66 is a different focus and emphasis in style.
1:14.4	Do not misunderstand that change of style.
1:17.1	It's the same Isaiah.
1:18.2	How do we know?
1:19.2	Lots of ways.
1:20.7	But the simplest is that John tells us so in John Chapter 12.
1:24.7	Don't let anyone sell you two Isaiah's or three or four, any of that foolishness.
1:30.4	That can be destroyed on sound scholastic arguments, but you and I can short circuit all of that
1:35.2	by just reading John 12 and discovering that John quotes from Isaiah 6 and Isaiah 53 and says
1:40.8	they are both written by the same guy. So that puts to silence that whole foolishness and can save you hours of dull, boring time in dusty library shelves,
1:51.7	chasing what's called the Deuter Isaiah foolishness.
1:56.0	Very popular in the denominational church, unfortunately, totally unsound scripturally and spiritually.
2:02.6	But that should not mask the insight that you will gain when you read the Book of Isaiah
2:08.6	through because there is a shifting of gears of sorts from chapter 39 on.
