Summary

As someone who has struggled with her weight for most of her entire life (I joined weight watchers at 11 years old) I know what it feels like to have a completely dysfunctional relationship with food and with my body. After becoming a professional dieter, and losing and gaining weight like it was my job, I was done. Done beating myself up. Done starving. Done binging. Done putting the keys to my self-worth inside a pair of skinny jeans. I spent years reprogramming my brain and finding ways to accept myself for who I am and what I look like, regardless of what the number on the scale said. I immersed myself in the body positivity movement and it saved my sanity. I finally learned to love myself – fully. I felt better, like I could breathe again.

But at the same time, I knew I wasn't my fully being my best self if I was overweight, and on the road to putting myself at risk for disease. Not to mention, not feeling entirely confident in my skin. Yes, I loved myself. But I didn't love my reflection because I knew, deep down, it wasn't me. Being 100% honest here.

And then recently it hit me – you CAN be body positive. You CAN love your body. And STILL want it to be leaner, stronger, smaller, and healthier. You can love your body, and want to make it better.

I had made "weight loss" a dirty term because I thought wanting to lose weight meant you didn't love yourself. And that's completely untrue.

What a revelation.

And we all know a good revelation leads to a revolution…

In this episode, I'm sharing how I gained a completely NEW perspective on weight loss, and have already lost over 10 pounds in 3 weeks in the most positive, effortless way possible.

Hi, ladies, and welcome back to the show. Hi, I know it's been a few weeks, and I apologize

0:07.0

for taking a little bit of a break, but as I mentioned on my social media, I was super busy

0:12.6

recording the audiobook version of my new book, like She Owns the Place, coming out in July.

0:18.9

So that week, that was two weeks ago, it was a little bit of a

0:22.6

crazy week. There was literally no way that I could have squeezed anything else out of my vocal

0:28.3

cords. So I went quiet for a little bit and then last week became really hectic as well.

0:33.8

So I said, you know what? Let me just take the break that I need, just like I would tell you guys to do if you needed a break as well.

0:40.1

And I just decided to give myself a little space and come back full force. So I'm really excited to be here with you today.

0:47.2

So happy Monday. If you're listening to this on Monday morning. I hope that you had an incredible weekend.

If you're in the U.S., I hope that you had a great time

celebrating Memorial Day weekend. We're in the official start of summer. It's here. And it's going

1:03.1

to be an interesting summer. Like I mentioned, like she owns the place is coming out in like a couple of

1:07.6

weeks, which is just so crazy. We are almost at the halfway point in 2018,

1:12.4

which is a whole other podcast and a whole other conversation. But I just wanted to pop on today

1:17.7

and talk to you guys about what's been going on in my life. If you've been following me on social,

1:22.5

you know that I am embarking on a weight loss journey, another weight loss journey, probably my

1:29.1

hundredth weight loss journey since I was, you know, 11 years old. And it's been very, very

1:36.6

different this time. And it has been one of the most empowering journeys that I have probably

1:41.9

ever been on in my life. And it's only been three weeks, but I can

1:46.0

tell you, I have shifted. I just want to give you guys a little bit of a background. If you're

1:51.3

new to me and my world, I joined Weight Watchers for the first time when I was 11 years old.

1:57.3

I will never forget. I started gaining weight after my parents got divorced. I was about eight years
