This is another interesting episode of the Remnant Podcast.

You're about to hear a voice that does not sound like mine, but is actually quite familiar.

For complicated reasons, I could not host today's episode, but I very much wanted to do it

because I'm a huge fan of Barry Strauss who's not only one of the leading scholars of

Ancient Rome and the entire world, but he's also just an incredibly charming decent guy,

and I hung out with him recently at Cornell where he teaches, and I told him when his new book

comes out, I definitely want to have him on for a podcast, and it just turned out that the

only day, the only window he could do it where he was in Washington, DC, I just couldn't.

And we wanted to honor the commitment, we wanted to do what help we could for the book,

and because Jack Butler, my psychic emuensis chief of staff, Major Domo, you choose the label,

producer, well that's a good one too, sound engineer, is a bit of a geek on this stuff,

and is interested in this stuff.

He volunteered to sit in the host chair and talk to Barry Strauss, so I thank him for

it.
