Aggression is one of the last dirty words in our culture.

You can be crass, you can be rude, you can even be profane, but, oh, aggressive, don't be

aggressive, except it's wrong, dead wrong.

I promise you nothing of meaning and transcendence will come into your life passively.

It's time for you to get into the arena to push back against a passive, mediocre existence.

This is the aggressive life.

Today we're going to get aggressive.

First, let's recognize the aggression that's happening in our culture and specifically the

unhealthy aggression. Is it me or are we more divided than we have ever been as a country?

And it is so stinking easy to just hurl insults and to hurl jabs and to throw punches at somebody who thinks different,

who votes different, who looks different, who acts different.

And we've got to recognize this is not good. It is not good for our culture. It's not good for our own

personal sanity. We have got to do the aggressive

mood of stepping out of our echo chambers. Yes, the people who you live with, the people who

you talk with, the people who you drink with, they're just like you. That's why you're with them. You are average of the

people who are in your circle. And whenever topic comes up, you're probably all in alignments

and you're just kind of stuptified, that someone thinks unlike you, that someone acts unlike you.

And we need to not be aggressive in our rhetoric with

people there, but we need to be aggressive with our empathy, aggressive with our presence

in going to people who are not like us, talking with people who think different than us,

spending time with people who do things that we wouldn't do.
