Summary

When Mihrican Mustafa, lovingly known as Jan, went missing in London in May 2018, her family knew something was wrong. And when the police looked at who she had last called on her phone, they were concerned. The number belonged to Zahid Younis, a man who had terrorised underage girls and women for most of his life.

But it was only when someone called to ask for a welfare check on Zahid, did the extent of his crimes become known; as well as a large number of missed opportunities to stop a potential serial killer in the making.

This is Real.

Just a quick announcement before we get started. I might sound slightly mad, but from midday on

0:14.2

the 17th of May, I'm going to be hosting a 24-hour live true crime podcast. Saying it out loud actually does make me sound a bit

0:25.0

unhinged, but let me explain why I want to do this. I've been wanting to do something to give back

0:30.8

to victims of crime for a while, so I've decided to raise money for Victim Support UK. I've had to use them in the past and

0:39.3

their service and their support was invaluable. I've done a marathon in the past and I'll never

0:45.1

do that again. And consider the usual fundraising methods could be interesting and put me

0:51.3

through physical pain. I thought that this might be a way to spread

0:56.0

awareness, to get survivors and families of victims to tell their stories, give them a platform to

1:03.1

speak, as well as create content that's helpful to. So I'll have a new guest joining me every

1:09.4

hour and they'll be related to a specific case,

1:13.0

a specific cause, or maybe it's another content creator who has something important to say,

1:18.7

or maybe someone who works in the criminal justice industry. If any of you fancy a challenge and

1:24.2

want to stay up with me for 24 hours and help raise funds, that would be

1:28.7

amazing. But if not, a schedule will be released in April with the full line-up, so you could

1:34.5

pick and choose any sessions that you'd like to join on our live stream. They will be available

1:39.6

afterwards to watch too, and on medical advice, I will be taking three 20 to 30 minute breaks to eat,

1:46.7

move and rediscover my energy. And during that time, I'll stream three episodes from my YouTube

1:53.2

channel, Totally True Crime, which, by the way, if you don't follow it, I'd be so grateful

1:58.4

if you could check it out. and if you find it interesting,

2:01.3

I'd love you to subscribe. I'll link the Just Giving page below as well as my YouTube channel

2:07.1

and I'll release more details in the coming months. Thank you so much and now back to the show.
