Jamie White (Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Salt Lake City, theological/pastoral education from Vanguard University and Princeton Seminary, married mother of three) joins us to share her story including: * Being raped at age 18, becoming pregnant, keeping her child—now her eldest son/recently married * Feeling her life was ruined. No hope. Deep anger. Could have killed her abuser * Writing letters to her unborn son * The support that saved her; parents and faith community, and her mom's tough advice * Therapist jolting comment: “This tragedy must become your greatest treasure.” Initial anger at this comment—but became true. * Hard work to find peace and forgiveness—loving your enemies. * Finding her husband Dave—and building a life together. * Creating space in her congregation for diversity rather than uniformity, tough work but worth it * Acceptance and love of queer members of her congregation—including the story of a thriving transgender member. 0:29.9	Jamie White is the senior pastor at the first Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City, Utah.
0:35.9	She became the 18th pastor in the summer of 2022.
0:40.3	Originally from California, Jamie received her undergraduate degree in pastoral leadership
0:44.9	and biblical studies from Vanguard University of Southern California.
0:50.4	She later received her Master's Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, where she
0:56.3	won numerous awards for ministry excellence. Jamie has served congregations in Pennsylvania, Utah,
1:02.6	and Southern California for over 20 years. She's also a founding board member of Kenya Partners
1:08.8	Nakura, if I'm saying that right, a large nonprofit
1:12.3	organization that provides health care education and community support for those in need in rural
1:17.7	Kenya. My wife and I want to go to Kenya someday. Then I'm going to read a little bit. Jamie and her
1:26.0	husband Dave met in Salt Lake City while sending the same college ministry,
1:31.8	and we're married a year later in Yosemite, California.
1:35.9	Dave, your husband, who originally held some Kansas City, works as a licensed mental health counselor.
