Is the Iran War going wrong and should Republicans eliminate the filibuster to pass the SAVE Act? We'll discuss all this more on this edition of the editors. I'm Rich Lowry, and I'm joined, as always, by the right, Honorable Charles C.W. Cook, the good neighbor, Noah Rothman, and the notorious MBD. Michael Brendan Doherty, you are, of course, listening to a Nashville podcast or sponsors. This episode are made in and Vair. More about both of them in due course. So MBD, we're talking about this earlier in the week,

0:58.1

but the focus of the war has increasingly become the state of the Strait of Hormuz,

1:04.0

which is effectively closed because ships aren't transiting it,

1:09.2

with the exception of some Iranian tankers.

1:12.8

The Iranians have apparently dropped some mines, not a lot in the Strait of Hormuz.

1:18.2

They've hit a couple ships, and this is causing major disruptions across the world,

1:24.9

especially in Asia so far, but the price of gas is spiking here as well.

1:29.3

And according to the Wall Street Journal this morning, the demands the Iranians are making to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and have a ceasefire are quite incredible.

1:56.7

What do you make of it?

2:21.0

Well, I mean, this is the, obviously the evident Iranian strategy was to lash out in this region in such a way to cause as much economic, global economic disruption as possible to ward off, you know, either Donald Trump, if he has any interest in the electoral fortunes of his party in November or to get diplomatic pressure from around the world to

2:27.8

collapse on Trump and make him back away.

2:39.2

And, you know, this is the major feature of it.

2:43.4

It sounds like I've seen reports that Indian ships have been getting around,

2:47.7

and maybe fuel is getting to China.

2:54.4

So it seems like some ships are passing through, but most aren't.

3:00.6

There's been an attempt by the United States to come up with an alternative insurance scheme for ships that are not crossing because their insurance companies, their insurance companies are, are basically

3:08.8

forbidding them from doing it. Um, you know, they're not afraid necessarily of the drones or

3:14.7

the mines, although I'm sure some are. Um, you know, this is, this is something that, you know,

3:21.7

has been talked about, I think for decades at this point that, um, you know, has been talked about, I think, for decades at this point,
