Summary

My friend Bryson Lind (active gay Latter-day Saint, mid 30’s) joins us to discuss his new therapy practice in Utah (Aletheia Counseling) and important topics he helps clients (LGBTQ and straight) solve including: * Overcoming unwanted behaviors * Reconstructing a relationship with the Divine * Honoring everyone’s path * Trusting our Light of Christ/Inner Compass * Navigating relationships with parents and leaders * Developing self-confidence and patience If you are looking for a therapist (or insights from a therapist to help you—or to be a better ally for LGBTQ Latter-day Saints), this is a must listen podcast. Bryson’s brings his lived experience, clinical training, and 5 years of clinical practice together to offer powerful solutions and principles. I was so moved listening to Bryson and so grateful to have him back on the podcast. Thank you, Bryson. You are a good man doing great work in our community. Hello, welcome listeners to another episode of Listen, Learn, and Love, hosted by Richard Osler.

0:11.5

I wanted to give an update just on a few things before we record.

0:18.2

And so I'll introduce my guest in three or four minutes.

0:22.9

We have gone the longest gap we've ever gone between podcasts. 842 was our last episode. It was Rob Metcalf. And that's

0:31.6

been a month ago. And that wasn't by intention. I have changed. I want listeners to know the podcast is not ending,

0:40.9

and we will continue to do podcasts. The thing that has changed is I probably am not reaching out as

0:47.3

much to people to be on the show. I'm mostly just responding to people that would like to be on the show.

0:54.6

And I'll talk about that in a second.

0:57.4

As part of that, we're really trying to be LGBT-focused.

1:01.5

I do get so many requests to be on the podcast from brave, vulnerable people that I'm really

1:08.6

trying to now focus on LGBTQ.

1:11.0

And that's partly because I just don't have the emotional capital to do the podcast

1:15.5

as frequently as I have done it.

1:18.1

It is draining to me to some extent to be present for all these brave people.

1:23.6

And I don't want to cause people not to listen to the podcast by being open with that.

1:27.9

I just need to keep myself gas tank as full as possible so that I can be present for a podcast

1:35.5

guests as well as just people that reach out. I continue to meet with people that reach out

1:40.4

that don't want to be on the podcast, just need a safe person to talk to. And I want to be

1:45.9

present for those. So if you'd like to be on the podcast, and it's an LGBTQ story, please

1:52.0

reach out to me. My emails in the show notes of the podcast or the description of the podcast.

1:57.6

You can find me there. You can find me on social media. Our next podcast is

2:02.7

LGBTQ-focused. Our next recording is Otto McCallpen talking about the new documentary sanctuary.
