This summer, this podcast series will be focusing on climate change related issue.

Because there is this strange feeling that because of the corona crisis,

many people tend to forget this other systemic crisis.

First things first.

But many observers have already stated that it's not because we have a global pandemic still ranging in all corners of the world,

that the climate change urgency has suddenly become less urgent.

And although it's somehow understandable that complete societies and policymakers alike are focused on getting the coronavirus under control,

some climate experts have rightfully noted that the clock is still ticking.

If we do not address this climate change crisis efficiently and urgently,

it will mean that for the generations after us,

the corona crisis of 2020 might look like a children's game,

compared to the disruption of the climate system and thus also ecosystems being out of control.

In the European Union, many policies are announced and being designed and negotiated as we speak.

But who has the overview still?

Who will be held accountable and how?

In this podcast, we will therefore look under the surface

of what's happening with the EU Green Deal right now

and disentangle what the good-sounding policy changes mean in reality.

For example, in November 2019, the European Investment Bank, EIB, announced it wanted to become the so-called European Climate Bank. Could this really mean a game changer? Many asked themselves. After all, the EIB is the lending arm of the European Union and the biggest public investment bank in the world.
