Mel, we are in the second part of a series that we're doing.

It's kind of a small series, like a little couplet, I guess you could call it.

On Lament, we're talking about Lament, our last episode with Molly Huffman,

we talked about this concept of Lament, and we wanted to tease it out a little bit more and we have a very special

guest Aubrey Sampson with us on this one and we're going to focus in on this idea of communal

lament. Now we talk about a lot of different things but communal lament is something that kind of gets brought out in this conversation and it's a very, very fascinating concept.

I agree. I think that especially having a Western faith and growing up in the United States of America,

my faith can oftentimes feel very individualistic that it's just me or maybe me and my spouse but it's not

integrated with the Big Sea Church on a whole lot of levels.

That's so true. You know what's interesting, Mel, is that there's like, there's

four promises that God makes to the Israelite people in Exodus as he's bringing them out of Israel.

And he basically says, hey, I'm going to, or I'm sorry, bringing them out of Egypt

into the promised land first through the wilderness.

He says, I'm going to free you from the Egyptian rule and reign.

I'm going to free you from slavery.

Then I'm going to kind of get Egypt out of you.

He says, then I'm going to redeem you, give you purpose.
