I have for once been around for the whole week without having to go anywhere.

And I've spent that time, that glorious time at home, replacing every single light switch in my house.

That's right. Everyone.

You probably don't think about this very much. Why would you?

I hadn't really thought about it much either, but there are a lot of light switches in a house.

And it turned out that my wife hated all of ours, all of them.

The people from whom we bought this house apparently liked toggle switches. Those are the little

thin ones that protrude out of the wall. So the house is full, or was full, of toggle switches.

But my wife likes rocker switches. Those are the bigger, flat, oblong ones that sit mostly against the wall.

Now, until last week, I didn't know this. It wasn't as if my wife was crying herself to sleep

each night over it or cursing out the toggle switches every time she turned off the bathroom

light. But if she were queen of the World, she would evidently banish

all toggle switches to Elba and have them replaced upon the instant with rockers.

Anyway, we at some point the last couple of weeks bought a new lamp for the back hallway,

and once we'd installed it, we realized that we needed to change the switches that went with it because the ones

that were already in the wall didn't dim. So we went to Ace Hardware. And when we got there,

my wife said we should buy rocker switches instead, which didn't really make

very much sense because the rest of our light switches were completely different. So I said,

well, that doesn't really make much sense because the rest of our light switches are completely

different. So if we do that,

we'll have to replace all of them. And then she gave me a, okay, then let's do that look,
