A lot of news piled up while we were gone, including Mike Johnson last Friday survives a speaker vote on the floor.

Some high drama there on the floor. Initially, three votes for other

candidates. A bunch of present votes or non-votes. Trump gets on the phone, works it. Johnson works

it. Two of these votes for others turn around. So Tom Massey is the only vote against and all the present votes

vote for him as well. So it falls into place for Speaker Mike Johnson. What did you make of it?

So I feel like we had gone through several versions of this, you know, is Johnson going to survive drama last year?

He always hung on. A major factor was that the, you know, that there was no serious replacement.

Now, this didn't stop Kevin McCarthy from getting bumped off by Gates and his crew, about a year earlier.

But it always just seemed like this rather unrealistic expectation, that even if there were a handful of House Republicans who weren't, you know, pleased with Mike Johnson.

And the man's not perfect.

He's made, you know, he shouldn't have turned the omnibus to a Christmas tree with everybody getting everything they possibly want in there.
