Just a heads up, this episode discusses death and suicide, which may be difficult for certain

listeners.

Just to refresh, in the last episode, Renee told us the story of her first love

Danny, who she met all the way back in 1984. Renee attempted suicide when she

was just 14. She met Danny shortly after. They fell quickly in love and dated for about a year.

They had plans to get married and actually picked out names for their kids. I know all of this because she sent me a

stack of love letters that they exchanged during that year. The relationship

came to an abrupt end when her family had to move to a different town.

Renee wanted to make things work with Danny,

but he ended up going to live and work with his dad,

and they completely lost contact.

I think this was really hard for Renee. She ended up dropping out of high school

and working at the mall for several years. During that breakup she also

experienced a sort of vision where she heard a voice saying that she would be with Danny again

when she's on the news for helping women. A very strange detail but I actually have

an old letter where she describes experiencing this. So lots of time goes by. She starts a

relationship with an older doctor that she meets. He encourages her to go back to school, get a college

degree and pursue a new career. Things are going

great and then suddenly in 1992 Danny appears again. He wants to get back

together. Renee tells this to the doctor who encourages her to go meet him and basically decide what she wants to do.

Renee meets Danny and Tahoe three times. He is acting a bit strange and different, but ultimately, Renee decides she wants to be with him.
