Hi. This is going to be a different episode than usual. John is not with us today. Both of John's parents have COVID.

So we're going to discuss that.

I'm going to let you know right now that both of his parents seem to be doing okay.

We're recording this Monday morning.

His father is still in the intensive care COVID unit at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.

John's mom is at home.

But things were very, very dicey and scary this past weekend for John and his family.

This is the first time I've actually known somebody who's come down with COVID.

Is that also the case for you, Starley? I've actually known somebody who's come down with COVID. Is that also the case for you, Starley?

I've known people who had it in those early days.

Right.

But not, this is the first time I know someone whose parents have gotten it and are in,

and we didn't know what was going to happen.

Yeah, in the hospital type of stuff.

It's definitely my first scare.

Yeah, and scare is the word.

I think y'all might want to think about staying at home right now

and washing your hands because this was a nightmare.

I'm just going to talk you guys through the situation somewhat, just to give you some context.

So John's parents both actually had COVID when we recorded last week's episode.

John did not want to discuss it at that time because so much was unknown.
