Summary

Episode 706 | The Labor Force Awakens

Labor Day 2019 and labor is as important today as ever before.

Check out this video of a woman who uses a new law in Mississippi to discriminate against the LGBTQ community and "Mixed Race" marriages.

Finally, it hurts me to have to say this: but Jay Z is a Stepin Fetchit-@$$-N*gga. Listen to this clip and let's discuss the real implications of blaming "angry young men" for their assassinations by the police.

jobs and not even the competition, it's so much as important as the abuse that child laborers suffered prior to the

labor movement. Collective organizing. All of the things that we honestly just take for granted today came because of the labor movement.

And just want to pause and acknowledge that and make sure that we keep that in our forefront because we take for granted

1:35.6

we think that the labor movement is not as necessary today as it was in the past and I would argue it's even more necessary now

1:46.7

because of the slow creep back towards fascism and the gilded age that are that so many in America are just willing to just plunge right back

1:59.8

all the way back to child labor.

2:06.9

You know, so I think it's just as important today as it ever has been.

I was watching, I'm going to be doing an interview on Wednesday with the author of the book The Family

and the Netflix series by the same name and one of the clips that I want to talk to him about is the impact

that this religious organization called the family had on the labor movement in the
