My dear friend (and former YSA) Tyler Shaw (RM, active Latter-day Saint, works for the Church) joins us to share his unexpected life reality of being single. Tyler talks about returning from his mission and believed his life plan was to get married around age 24-25, have children, and then be done having children around age 30. Well, that is not how life is turning out for Tyler. Tyler talks about how he is managing a life different than he expected. It is a story of courage, faith, and temple attendance to see the big picture. It is also a story of not looking backwards with regret or the unhealthy road of “what is wrong with me”. If your life has unexpected twists and turns and it not exactly as you imaged it in your younger years, Tyler’s story will help you. Tyler has this ability to create grace for ourselves, continue to work to improve, and temple attendance to be reminded of the big picture to find peace and perspective in our current journey. 0:20.0	Tyler's probably going to call me Bishop throughout this whole podcast.
0:23.5	And when I see my former bishops, I call them bishops.
0:26.5	I was Tyler's bishop in the YSA ward.
0:29.6	I've referred to so much over the years, learned so much from those YSAs, including Tyler.
0:35.4	As we looked at the calendar, I realized it was 10 years ago this weekend
0:38.9	that I was called to serve in the Magna area and be the YSA Bishop. And Tyler was already in that
0:45.4	ward and was in that ward for the entire three years and was one of the tremendous leaders of our
0:51.1	ward and just a dear friend.
0:57.8	Tyler emailed me a month or two ago and said,
1:03.9	Bishop, do you have any podcasts for people that are sort of unexpectedly not married?
1:10.7	Tyler is now 34 and I think his 19-year-old self as he left on mission, would have thought, well, I will not be single at 34.
1:13.7	And that's the reality of his life.
1:15.1	And I said, Tyler, I don't have any podcasts like that, but would you be willing to come on the podcast and share your story?
1:22.8	Tyler's a pretty private person, but he said, yeah, I will.
1:26.6	And our joint hope and prayer is that this Tyler's story
1:30.2	will help you if you're sort of unexpectedly single later than you thought you'd be and how you're
